Credit Verification Value

The Credit Verification Value is an additional safety feature on the credit card. The shopper has to look at the actual card to find the number. The location of the Credit Verification Value depends on the card type.

AMERICAN EXPRESS

The non-embossed 4-digit, number is printed on the face of the card, above the embossed account number.

MASTER CARD

The non-embossed 3-digit number is printed after the account number. It is on the back of the card, in the signature panel.
