If the e-commerce site does not display or its response time is slow, try to isolate the problem to contact your support group with a specific problem.
Is the problem your connection?
Login on another computer in your office.
If you have access, login on a computer in another office or at home.
You can trace your route to the web site, see Tracing your internet connection for a procedure describing how to do this.
Different Invensys Offices have different capabilities to access Internet versus Intranet application. Select either address t used based on the best access for you location:
ˇ Use buyautomation.com to access from the Internet
ˇ Use Buyautomation.invs.com to access from the Invensys Intranet. (note: do not use www prefix)
Is the problem specific to our e-commerce site?
Are other common sites slow or unavailable, for example a local news site or weather site?
Is the problem specific to a function on our e-commerce site?
Is the site slow for all functions or a specific application (product search, order status, Price book)?
Is the problem your login?
Try logging in with another name if there is more then one registered user in your office.
If you have only one registered user, use our Live Help feature and request that we login with your name.
Is the problem your personal computer?
Try logging in on another computer in your office. Compare the hard disk's free space and the browser's settings.
ˇ Is more than one e-commerce session open at any time on your computer? Never work with more than one browser at any given time to avoid processing errors.
The most commons settings that may cause a problem with our website are:
NOTE: always check with your IT department before you modify your Internet Explorer's settings.
ˇ The Security Setting, we recommend to set it to Medium (under Tools | Internet Options | Security, select Internet, click Custom Level and on the Security Settings dialog box reset the Security setting to Medium).
NOTE: do not change the ActiveX control settings defaulted for "Medium".
ˇ HTTP 1.1 settings (under Tools | Internet Options | Advanced Tab) - de-select the option and try again.
ˇ If you have Internet Explorer 6.0 (indicated under Help | About), Meta-Refresh should be checked ON (go to Tools | Internet Options, click Custom Level on the Security Tab, Meta-refresh is under the Miscellaneous issues).
ˇ On Tools | Internet Options | General tab, in the section for Temporary Internet Files, click Settings. For "Check for newer version of stored pages" select "Every visit to the page", so every page displays with the latest actions, calculations, settings.
ˇ Un-check the option "Show friendly HTTP error messages" on the Advanced tab of Tools | Internet options. With this setting, the error messages that display will contain the relevant information for the development team to accurately identify your problem.

If the Hard Drive on your computer is low on free space (less than 5 MB free space), your computer can get very slow.
č To review the amount of free space on the hard drive:
1 Open Windows Explorer.
2 Select your local hard drive (normally c:)
3 Select File | Properties from the menu.
The amount of used and free space on the drive is indicated.
Web pages and files are stored on your computer in the Temporary Internet Files folder. This increases the display speed of previously visited pages, but decreases the amount of space available for other files on your computer. You can delete these files and control how much space the folder uses on your hard disk.
NOTE: It is suggested that the Temporary Internet Files folder be emptied weekly to insure best performance using your Internet browser.
č To empty the Temporary Internet Files folder:
1 On your Browser, select Tools | Internet Options - General Tab.
2 Under Temporary Internet Files, click Delete files.
3 Under History, click Clear History.
č To set the size of Temporary Internet Files folder:
1 On your Browser, select Tools | Internet Options - General Tab.
2 Under Temporary Internet Files, click Settings.
3 Under Temporary Internet Files Folder, enter the amount of Mega-Bytes your want to allocate for the folder. This depends on the size of the installed hard drive.
č To set the days for the History Folder:
1 On your Browser, select Tools | Internet Options - General Tab.
2 Under History, enter the number of days the computer should store visited pages. The default is 20 days, but if you are low on memory, reduce it to 10 days.
To open a specific web page, your computer communicates with a series of hosts. You can find the communication speed of each connection using Microsoft's trace route application. The "tracert" application determines the route taken to a destination and returns the time-to-live (TTL) values.
If the problem router is an offsite router, contact its administrator. If the problem router is under your control, your IT should be able to restore the router to fully functional status.

č To check the connection speed:
1 Open the Command Prompt application (usually under Start | Programs | Accessories | Command Prompt on the Windows task bar).
2 In the cmd.exe window that displays, type: tracert webaddress (for example: tracert www.BuyAutomation.com . Hit enter. The response is a list of server connections and its times in milliseconds. .
3 (Optional) Email this file to BuyAutomation@ips.invensys.com Include the following information:
ˇ Method of connection to the Internet
ˇ Vendor supplying the connection to the Internet
ˇ Operating System type and version
ˇ Browser type and version.
Too many baskets in your account slow down your system. Create multiple TeamBuy Shopping Groups to organize your baskets and this way also get a better response time from the e-commerce site. Be sure to keep the basket count for each group to under 500 thus optimizing the speed of your account.
